Naples Garden Club along with Naples Botanical Garden, working seamlessly together, proudly produced the 2014 Naples Flower Show, “Alice in Wonderland”.
A most successful flower show, with imaginative and whimsical staging, artistic and inventive designs and overall tremendous membership participation. Approximately 3800 attendees enjoyed and raved about the spectacular extravaganza!
Right from the onset, the flower show committee pitched in and encouraged all our members to do the same. From the creative design entries and horticulture variety, to the popular youth section along with the well thought-out educational and artistic photographic sections – all were well organized and accomplished with the utmost creativity and enthusiasm.
The Design Division’s 72 fabulous exhibits, Horticulture Division’s 329 extraordinary specimens, Artistic Crafts’ 17 creative and 31 well-grown Special Exhibits/Youth Section, 4 informative Special Educational Exhibits, 24 creative and novel exhibits in Photography and 12 interesting combination plantings in Member’s Challenge: Totaling 489 exhibits to educate and enlighten all the attendees to the wonderful world of horticulture and floral design.
The NBG’s PR staff along with our NGC PR volunteers and members worked together to advertise with an abundance of articles, little blurbs, insightful histories and creative whimsy to stir up the general public interest in the event – and that, they did! The attendance was the highest yet for a NBG weekend.
The public’s “People’s Choice Vote” was popular once again. The attendees have become accustomed to picking their special Horticulture and Design winners, making them feel as much a part of the event as all the exhibitors. This years winners were Julie Peterson in Horticulture and Roberta Ross in Design.
The more ‘formal’ preview cocktail party has become a special time for members and invited guests to look forward to with great anticipation, allowing them the chance to view the show prior to the general public. For the first time the H> Sponsors along with the NFS Sponsors were invited guests to the preview party and all enjoyed mingling and an evening of pleasant conviviality.
