On April 3, 2017, eight organizations received grants from Naples Garden Club. Sandy Lasch, Naples Garden Club President, made the check presentations. She noted that NGC “is pleased to support the efforts of these diverse organizations. The projects we fund support our mission to foster understanding and appreciation of horticulture, design and the environment”. In addition to the grants, the club also funds several scholarships and internships. The 2017 grants are as follows:
- Colllier Senior Services – Funds for a courtyard garden and field trips
- Friends of Fakahatchee – Funding for a chickee hut outdoor classroom
- Grace Place – A grant to create a garden with reading area
- Habitat for Humanity – Signage and landscaping in two neighborhoods
- JFCS – Funds for a healthy eating garden and education plus field trips
- Naples Botanical Garden -Preservation of rare and historically significant plants program funding.
- Naples Zoo – Transportatioin for visiting zoo horticulturists to NBG and other sites
- Providence House – Funding for a gardening program for abuse victims.
