The Strand to Slough Expedition is the Foundation’s seventh expedition documentary which is now in post-production. The expedition took place in November 2024, and focuses on southwest Florida’s conservation efforts featuring the Corkscrew watershed and the Western Everglades System. Our grant is for two screening receptions in the Greater Naples area in late Summer and Fall.  Other screenings will be done throughout the state at key venues. The Foundation’s documentary screenings have been effective in building local community support systems to protect the Corridor and foster a deeper understanding of the region’s unique environmental challenges.  The film addresses the need for more localized environmental information on the Corridor’s ecological significance, particularly areas at risk. Agricultural lands are highlighted as critical to maintaining Corridor connectivity in southwest Florida and the film notes the fragmentation in the Naples area. Naples Botanical Garden, Community School of Naples, Audubon Corkscrew Swamp, and Florida Trail Association are a few of the partners that helped with this expedition.
