In today’s world, folks are more likely to get their gardening information off the internet than at a gathering of gardeners.
NGC is bucking this national trend. Our thriving membership embraces the traditional hands-on garden club concept.
The 1950s was the hey day of garden clubs as suburbs sprung up around the nation. These suburbs needed beautification on both an individual and community basis. Garden clubs were the hub of all this activity.
Our FFGG rep, Kathleen Hawryluk, notes that NGC is the largest club in District IX which is composed of 36 clubs or councils (groups of clubs). The district is losing members, and even clubs. Yet, NGC continues to be healthy and strong in our level of activity and membership numbers. This is evidenced by the NGC Membership Report.
